Monday, March 23rd, 2009

US President Barak Obama is under pressure to increase drone bombing into Pakistan’s heavily-populated city of Quetta according a Times Online article.

Quetta is the captial of the Baluchistan province.  The Baluch people are some of the least-reached people with the gospel in all of Central Asia.

Pray that the gospel would spread in Quetta’s marketplaces and side streets.

Pray that God would have mercy on the people of Quetta and protect them from this bombing raid until they have a chance to hear the Good News.

The promise of additional troops sent to Afghanistan by President Obama raises hopes that the country will be more secure. According to this New York Times article, many of the problems existing in Afghanistan are directly linked to the number of soldiers or policeman per capita.

The past year has seen a serious deterioration in the security situation. Please pray that the new troops would help to bring peace to this land which has known so much war.

Afghanistan: Third Suicide Bomb Attack

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

The post asking for prayer for the warzone of Afghanistan was posted before a series of three suicide bombs have terrorized the already fragile city of Khandahar in southern Afghanistan.

Please continue to pray for peace in Afghanistan. Many people are laboring on the ground for peace there, but the battle is more than just winning the war against terrorists. Pray for the peace of Christ to be known in the country of Afghanistan. Pray Acts 26:18 for the peoples of Afghanistan, from the most vicious warlord to the most innocent family man: Pray that God would “open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Christ.”

Afghanistan: Life in Afghanistan

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Life in Afghanistan is difficult. That’s an understatement. Most of us in the western world could never conceive of the trials of living that the peoples of Afghanistan face on a daily basis. Lack of infrastructure, low levels of education, rampant poverty, and complete disregard for the rule of law from rebel forces make normal tasks difficult and sometimes life-threatening.

Pray for the country of Afghanistan to be freed not only politically from the rebel forces, but also from the evil that pervades so many facets of life.

This BBC article gives us some insight into why life is so difficult.
